Note: If the program exits immediately after you start
it, you may need to install Microsoft's .NET Framework.

Stand-alone Installer package by Nielsen & Kudrnovsky:
- For Windows XP through Windows 7, both 32 and 64 bit
- The easiest way to install WinGRASS on a single user machine
- Option to download and install the sample datasets used in the
tutorials as part of the install process
OSGeo4W Installer with "pkg-grass" package by Martin Landa:
- For Windows XP through Windows 7, both 32 and 64 bit
- Slightly more complex installer but many more choices
- Includes the ability to install many other Free GIS software packages
and libraries such as:
Quantum GIS, GDAL tools, MapServer, OpenEV, uDig, and more
- May be used for
unattended
or bulk installations (e.g. a template collection for a computer lab)
GRASS is available in Quantum GIS as GRASS toolbox:
- For Windows XP through Windows 7, both 32 and 64 bit
- Quantum GIS (QGIS) is an excellent
user-friendly & simple to use GIS data viewer. GRASS's analytical tools
allow it to perform many advanced processing tasks from within the QGIS
environment
Cygwin Installer:
- Cygwin
is a UNIX compatibility layer for MS Windows
- A few of the older GRASS tools
(such as the orthophoto processing and stand-alone display drivers)
require a full UNIX system and Cygwin provides that
- Use if you need access to historical features
