Outcome of the 5th Community Sprint in Vienna

The GRASS GIS community is delighted to present the outcome of the 5th Community Sprint that took place in Vienna, from 24th to 28th of March, 2014. The team joint other OSGeo communities at the Vienna OSGeo code sprint. The event was a creative gathering of both long-term and new developers, as well as users.

In particular, we gratefully acknowledged the sponsors of the Vienna OSGeo code sprint, Go-Parts (USA) and the individuals Pietro Blu Giandonato, Johannes Radinger, Alessandro Fanna, Mark Seibel, Johannes Brauner, Ivan Marchesini, Luca Casagrande, Veronica Andreo, David Adams, Massimo Di Stefano, and Stefan Blumentrath.

GRASS developers and users that joined the event came from various countries like Italy, Czech Republic, Austria and Germany.

As a major outcome of this Community Sprint, we can proudly announce:

    • GRASS GIS 7 beta 1 release (see here)
    • Bugfixing of all Landscape Indices tools (r.li modules) with new GUI
    • Stream tools added to GRASS GIS-core (r.stream.*)
    • Cleanup of many GRASS GIS bug reports and wishes

The Geographic Resources Analysis Support System, commonly referred to as GRASS GIS, is an Open Source Geographic Information System providing powerful raster, vector and geospatial processing capabilities in a single integrated software suite.
