XII. Process Images

GRASS originally being heavily raster-based[1], it has always been an ideal candidate for image processing. It is, therefore, not surprising that GRASS offers quite sophisticated handling of such data.

In these chapters we will not cover all of GRASS' image processing capacities. We will just go through a basic introduction in order to allow you to explore further possibilities with the help of the relevant man pages or other specialized documentation, such as the g.help command (outdated, but still useful introduction via the "image processing" entry), or the image processing tutorial (gzipped postscript file, 136Kb).
